Roomm is new. The practice behind it is not.
Roomm is the convergence of two decades of building things off-site and shipping them where they're needed — from 63 stackable apartment units into a Cape Winelands development, to luxury lodges deep in the African bush.
We've taken what we learned at scale and what we learned in the wild, and distilled it into a system built on three things:

Factory-finished bathrooms and kitchens. All the complex stuff (waterproofing, tiling, plumbing, electrics) solved before they leave the floor.

Bolt-together, flat-packed for efficient transport and easy handling on site.

Architectural finishes that go up fast, with limited skills required on site.

2010 _ The first pod
Obz Square, Cape Town
870 prefabricated bathroom pods installed at UCT's flagship student residence. Our first proof that wet rooms could be built better in a factory than on a site.
2013 _ The first stack
Studios on Park, Stellenbosch
63 stackable apartments for a private residence near the University of Stellenbosch. Volumetric modules, stacked and finished. The blueprint for modular at scale.
2014 _ Scaling up
Hatfield Studios, Pretoria
980 bathroom pods for the University of Pretoria. Refinement through repetition.
2016 _ Into the wild
Thorntree Lodge, Livingstone, Zambia
The first time we married bathroom pods with flat-pack structural elements. A lodge unit, delivered to a remote site, assembled fast. The DNA of Roomm starts here.
2019 _ Fully self-sufficient
Ngala Treehouse, Kruger National Park
A complete off-grid build — power, sewage treatment, the works — in one of the most protected wildernesses on the continent. Proof that modular can go anywhere and leave nothing behind.
2022 _ Roomm v1
Lekkerwater, De Hoop Nature Reserve
Manager's accommodation built from a service module combined with structural panels. The first unit that looked, felt, and worked like what Roomm is today.
2026 _ The prototype
